I photographed Kirsten and Aaron’s (and pup Diesel) engagement session at Boom Island Park. The morning light was absolutely beautiful as well as the fall colors. As you can see in the photos, we spent a lot of the session laughing uncontrollably. I do believe this is the best series of “piggy back ride” photos I have captured and Diesel you sure stole my heart. Such a cutie. Enjoy…

So many of you may think photographing those closest to you would be a piece of cake… well that is not the case. I have found the more you know someone the trickier it gets and the pressure is on to create the most spectacular photos, although the outcome is even more special and rewarding :) I had the opportunity last month to photograph my sister’s engagement session (I know I am waaay behind blogging and they have been super patient!) We did a few quick photos at Fort Snelling the week before, where their wedding will take place this January. Their “real” engagement session took place downtown St. Paul. I also had a unique  opportunity to photograph their session along side my husband who as many of you know is one of my second shooters and will be photographing their wedding day. We started off the shoot under a loading dock downtown that I have driven by for years and never had the chance to photograph, followed by a stroll through the downtown streets, a quick stop in Mears Park (love the birch trees here), and ended their session with a gorgeous sunset view of St. Paul. I hope you all enjoy these photos as much as we did photographing them…

While going through some old photos, I found prints that my husband, Peter Matthews took on 9/11 in New York City. I scanned a few of his images to share with you as we remember those who were lost as the 10th anniversary approaches.

The seemingly “small” details of any wedding helps guests remember the entire day. Jana and Nick did an amazing job with every little detail for their wedding at the Gull Lake Yacht Club yesterday. Jana and Nick exchanged vows as their guests, seated in white chairs, looked at the gorgeous backdrop of Gull Lake as acoustic music filled the air.  Following the ceremony I took Jana and Nick down to the beach for some of their photos, including the dock and sailboats. As guests attended the cocktail hour they shared “The Lake Water” drinks, served in Mason Jars. Guests entered the white tent to find several elegant details on each table, including purple napkins folded into fish and tables named for a variety of fish. As the sun set, everyone moved inside for their first dance.

I spent last evening photographing Nicole and Tod’s Engagement photos at Mill City. Nicole a die hard Twins fan, and Tod a huge Indians fan had a great time taking advantage of this rivalry! We had perfect weather, perfect lighting, and I have to say they rank up there with one of my most EXCITED couples! We took advantage of all the unique ruins, buildings, and even made a stop at the Stone Arch Bridge. !  Enjoy!

Saturday was a beautiful morning at the Sculpture Gardens with an equally beautiful couple, Page and Chris. We started at the Sculpture Gardens, made a stop on the Bridge and then ended at the Walker Art Center grounds. I enjoyed really getting to know them (they were a blast to work with) and can’t wait for their wedding this October! Enjoy!

Yesterday I spent the morning shooting  two beautiful little girls, Emme & Addi. Although they are from Philly they managed to squeeze some time in for a shoot while visiting family here in Minnesota. Their outfits were adorable and their expressions priceless. Their bond as sisters  really shows through in their faces, and in their images. Enjoy!
